  • I am very surprised by any negative reviews for Gateway Pediatrics! We love them! When our daughter was born last year, we were leaning towards Gateway (and Dr. Sudha). We planned to attend one of the "meet the doctor" events they offer to confirm our choice; however, our daughter was delivered a month early due to complications. Eek! We didn't technically have a pediatrician. I told the hospital Dr. Sudha was our pediatrician, but that she didn't know that yet. The hospital contacted her office to let her know she had a new patient who was 4 weeks early. Our daughter was born at 4pm and Dr. Sudha showed up at the hospital to check her out. I couldn't believe it. The real test of a pediatrician, in my opinion, isn't really gauged at well visits (although those have always been wonderful) or any of the standard appointments/vaccinations. This is where Gateway went from an office I would recommend to an office I hope to never leave. Late one day (after hours, because, of course! Isn't it always?) our daughter had a weird tremor like movement in her arm. It was enough to make me concerned. I called the after hours line, heard back quickly, and was advised to get our daughter to an ER for evaluation that night. Yikes. The ER was unsure whether these movements were seizures and wanted to get an MRI. They called Dr. Sudha (by now it was probably midnight) who told them, "No! Do not radiate a 10 month old baby!" We had no idea what to do, but since that ER visit we have learned an MRI is almost never standard practice on a little one. Dr. Sudha saw us in her office the next day. She felt enough concern to get us in with a neurologist as quickly as possible. We heard Dr. Sudha on the phone with the neuro and she worked around the 8 week wait by having our daughter admitted to Cardon Children's Hospital where the neuro would see her right away. Gateway then called us that night to make sure Cardon got us a room and we were successfully admitted. It was scary, but feeling like you have an ally helping you through makes a world of difference and Gateway is exactly that - an ally working as your child's advocate to ensure your child receives the best care. We're lifetime patients.
