  • We have been wanting to try this place for quite some time. We actually had gone out earlier that evening. As we drove past the area, we both kind of thought the same thing and I turned into the parking lot. As we walked up to the establishment, the patio was about half full so that is of course a great sign. We walked in and the place was definately hopping. The bar was about two thirds full and the tables were all taken as well. Again, a good sign that people like to come here :) So we took the two seats up at the bar closest to the entrance just in case we need to make a quick get away if we do not like it...just kidding. I like the fact that the crowd of people that come here are varied. It is nice to have a place that every different type of person can go an ejoy a drink or two with company they keep. After ordering a few drinks we looked over their menu. I thought I died and went to fat heaven. So many things sounded delicious...especially their desserts. After a quick and conjoined consensus, we decided to order the 'chips' and then split the chicken pot pie pasty. Before we were fed, I noticed a few pretty great things about this place. They actually use wax candles instead of the crappy oil burning ones most places do now a days. On top of that, they were placed inside old Jameson and vodka bottles! (See picture) Just adding the the already dimly lit casual bar feel of this place. there are a few pictures and things hung around the high walls for a effect but the thing to really notice is the benches they use for the long tables in the front center of the restaurant. (See picture) They are old church pews! Ha! There are very few things that impress me with astonishment and this is one of them. Whoever thought of this was a very smart man/woman. Okay, so back to the food... when it came out I could just tell by looking at is it would be good. (See pictures) The 'chips' also known as french fries around these parts :) were probably some of the best I have ever tasted in my entire life. I am almost positive they rank within the top 3 for sure. They were freshly cut, seasoned and fried to the ideal consistancy. They were soft where they should be and crispy around the edges like fried should be as well. I really appreciate when cooks take that extra step into paying attention to culinary detail. Then moving on to the pot pie pasty (say that 5 times fast). It was absolutely delicious! You could tell all the vegetables were fresh. The filling was not too heavy (saucy) which I truly appreciate as I was already feeling guilty about the amount of food I was about to partake in. My only suggestion was it needed a hint of salt and black pepper for more flavor but I think maybe they do this on purpose for those that are sensitive to overly spiced foods. Either way, I really do like the authenticity and quality of this place. Really? Only $9 for these enormous pasties? Fantastic! We will definately be back. Next time I think I might just have to indulge in the bread pudding as that is one of my favorite guilty pleasures in life. Cheers!
