This review is about the supporting staff and clinic manager, not the providers.
I called on 3/24/17 to schedule an appt as a new patient for Dr. Dunsmoor because he was listed as accepting new patients on my provider listing for medicaid. When I told the woman in scheduling that I had HPN Medicaid she said "Hmhp no we do not accept that, you guys go to southwest medical" in the nastiest tone. I was so taken back by her response. I know for a fact that is not true. I told her "thank you" and hung up. I called back because I felt like that was not the way you should speak to anyone, but especially a potential patient. I asked to speak to the office manager, a woman named Sharon. She placed me on hold after I told her what I had experienced just moments ago and came back to say "Well I spoke with her and she said she did not speak to you in that manner. His panel is closed for Medicaid patients." (So he does take medicaid, he's just not accepting new patients)
I proceeded to ask if he was accepting UHC insurance (for my mother) and Sharon told me "Well if you have UHC then why are you asking about Medicaid"
Because I can, that's why. I SHOULD be able to ask as many questions as I want about whatever insurance products I want. That should not be an issue.
Never did I receive an apology for being talked down to as if I were ignorant and Sharon basically told me they were right and I was completely wrong.
I will be filing a complaint with the health plan so that it can be properly addressed about how to speak to people in general. I am fully aware of the stigma that is placed with Medicaid recipients and to be mistreated and misguided because of the product you carry is completely out of line.
