  • Very unpleasant experience. Would not recommend to anyone. Please read all of the following and see photos. I am writing this review because all tenants have just received an email from management asking for positive Yelp/Google+ reviews so they can win a "popularity contest" with their sister properties. I think people need to know the real story here based on my experience. I have lived at the Serafina at South Mountain apartments for nearly a year and I feel I can now make a proper assessment of my experience thus far. I moved to Phoenix with short notice for a new job and I chose Serafina because of its close proximity to my work. I have been very disappointed with my choice to sign a lease here. The following is a summary of my biggest concerns: - The buildings and the utilities/appliances are very old and have been poorly maintained. Issues never seem to be fixed, just merely band-aided. For example, most of the cabinets and drawers in my apartment are falling apart. These should be fixed, but they continue to just be glued and painted over. See attached photo. - This also extends to the roof and drywall. After leaving town on a rainy weekend, I returned to a roof leak which came through the ceiling fan/light in the bedroom. Water was leaking into my bedroom and onto my bed, through an ELECTRICAL UNIT!!! The drywall was severely damaged as well. If not for a nice waterproof mattress cover, my mattress would be ruined. After bringing it to the attention of the staff they were slow to respond and acted like we were overly upset for nothing. Their response being "These things happen". Justifying that by citing a story of a downstairs unit being flooded because of a dishwasher pipe bursting in the unit above it the day before. It took almost a week for them to fix the damage. I also asked repeatedly if they would call and let me know when the workers would be in my apartment. I am still waiting on that call even though everything is fixed. I have the mess on my carpet from the dry wallers to prove it. Who's to say there isn't black mold in these walls either. - It has never failed that at least two to three times a month there is a water main break leaving tenants without hot water, or even no water at all for hours and sometimes an entire day. - Trash is a serious issue here. Dumpsters are always overflowing until the one day a week it's picked up. This placed is not gated which leads to strangers/transients walking around the property that do not belong here. I've even seen people dumpster diving more frequently than you should ever see. Roaming the property at night does not seem as safe as it should be for living in Ahwatukee. - Now for the main event. After Thanksgiving a car in the parking lot next to mine blew up. Literally BLEW UP and burned down!!!! It severely damaged my car, that was unfortunately parked next to it, and it took months to sort out through insurance. I am not blaming Serafina for that, however I am blaming them for the fact that the destroyed car sat in the parking lot for a week and the glass and debris were never cleaned up. In addition, the staff NEVER acknowledge the incident took place. ARE YOU KIDDING?! See attached photos. What type of management does not reach out after something like this happens. So if you read all of that and are still thinking of living here then be my guest but don't expect anything more than a 1 Star living experience.
