With this past Sunday being one of the first warm weather days of the winter, we decided to go ice-skating at Tenney Park. Believe it or not, the boys had never been ice-skating before. I think they were a little nervous and intimidated when we walked into a jam-packed shelter, absolutely filled with other people that had the exact same idea that we did. I've been ice-skating at Tenney park a few times over the years but I've never seen it as busy as it was on Sunday. We waited in line for probably a solid 30 minutes, and then had to fight for a spot to sit and put our skates on. With as crowded and busy as the warming shelter was, the frozen lagoon felt wide open and spacious. There's something so charming about being outside in the winter, skating on a frozen pond.
Skate rentals for adults were six dollars for the first hour and three dollars for children 15 years old and younger. It's an additional two dollars per hour for every additional hour of skating. They also have hockey sticks and pucks for rent, in addition to hot chocolate and some other concession items. The warming shelter also has bathrooms and a fireplace which gives a nice cozy feel.
Tenney Park has been so much fun to skate at, I have a hard time wanting to try anywhere else!
