  • I purchased a package off DealTicker: $24 for a haircut, wash, blow dry, style, deep conditioning treatment and full colour or highlights. I frequent hair schools because I've had great experiences in the past, but my entire experience at Design 8000 was disappointing to say the least. Upon entering, I spent a good fifteen minutes trying to explain to the receptionist/instructor (who seemed to barely understand English) and a stylist what I was there for and what I wanted. At the time, my hair was dyed blonde with my dark roots peeking out. I didn't ask for much -- just that it be coloured to match my roots as best as possible. Both of them consulted ME on which colour it should be. Hello, are you a hairdresser? Do you have eyes? This is your supposed field of expertise, not mine. The whole time I was there, the stylists (who also barely understood English) were making rude gestures and seemingly shit-talking the instructor, and the instructor expected them to know all these things without ever teaching them. Disgustingly unprofessional. It was as if the girl doing my hair had never done anyone's hair before. It took her a good 20 minutes to figure out how to mix the colour and then she didn't know how to apply it (I could've done it myself at home for $10). I asked for my split ends to be cut (again, basic hair school knowledge) and neither the instructor nor the stylist knew how much should come off. So I left without my haircut at all. *sigh* The shampoo and conditioner used on my hair was terrible, and there was no deep conditioning treatment. Much lower than "salon" quality. They destroyed my hair and made it impossible to get a brush through my long wavy locks. The best part was being recommended to purchase a good conditioner and use it at home regularly. HA! I use Aveda products that retail for $30 per bottle and NEVER have issues brushing my hair. The colour turned out pretty badly. The shade was lighter than what I wanted, and I could still see blonde in some parts. I purchased multiple vouchers, thinking I could save big on my hair for a year, but you couldn't pay me to go back. Worst experience at a salon ever!
