  • Hubby and I met up with some friends for a birthday dinner here. We had a reservation, but still had to wait for our table in the bar area which is pretty common on a Friday or Saturday night. The bar is big, busy and can get crowded. They have several options when it comes to hot and cold plates to share. We tried and shared several dishes from the menu and most everything was well liked. Garlic Bread with Sweet Almond Butter - This was brought at the beginning of the meal and it's oh so addicting! Very very good. Ham and Cheese Croquetas ($6) - Serrano ham and manchego cheese. These were tasty! Comes with 3 croquetas. Why oh why couldn't you put 4 on the plate to even things out? Lol. They are a decent size and best eaten right away while hot. Roasted Beets and Persimmon Salad ($9) - Star anise, mixed greens, pecan crusted goat cheese, beets, persimmon and balsamic-pear vinaigrette. The greens were a tad too salty on this dish, but everything else was very good. Mushroom Tart ($10) - This was a well liked dish at our table and now we know to order more of it next time! It came with 4 puff pastries covered in a delicious mushroom sauce and it also had some cream cheese. Everything melded well together and I wanted to lick the plate. Stuffed Dates ($6.50) - You get 5 bacon-wrapped dates each stuffed with a smoked almond in a red wide reduction and sprinkled with blue cheese. This is one of the most popular items on the menu and with good reason. The stuffed dates here are some of the best that I have had and even when I see Firefly at Bite of LV or some other event around town I have to stop by and grab some of their stuffed dates. These tasty gems shouldn't be overlooked when ordering from the menu. Baked Goat Cheese ($8) - Goat and garlic cream cheese in a boat of tomato sauce that's drizzled with pesto and served with toast. My hubby really liked this dish while I didn't like it much at all. I personally didn't taste any garlic it was just plain cream cheese. I did enjoy the bread that came with it. Stuffed Peppers ($8.50) - 3 good sized Spanish piquillo peppers stuffed with fresh mozzarella and garlic cream cheese on a bed of tomato sauce and topped with green onions and crispy onions. This was a very good dish and well liked by others in our group. Serrano Sliders ($9) - 2 mini burgers with serrano ham, cabrales bleu cheese and a side of crispy onions. These sliders tasted great, but where was the ham? I'm not sure if the ham is mixed with the burger and then cooked or if it's supposed to be slices on the slider, but there was no visible ham or none that could be tasted in the mini patty itself. Still tasty regardless however with serrano in the name I would expect more of a piggy flavor. Someone in our group brought a birthday cake from a local bakery and the restaurant had no problem slicing it up and serving it to us on their dishes after our meal. Service was good and the menu is priced fairly. Definitely a great place for large groups.
