It gets points for not being a chain, because Charlotte has turned into a city of chains. Honestly, overall the food was terribly bland. It is a decent spot to check out for soul food, but not my number one recommendation. I will say that the cornbread was phenomenal, like best ever level cornbread, but that was where the meal deliciousness ended. My chicken just tasted like fryer grease and was extremely greasy and more burnt than crisp (everyone else at the table that got the fried chicken felt the same). The yams were over the top sweet, more like a dessert and swimming in sauce and the collards really didn't have any taste at all, and were at the point of over cooked. I will say that our server was wonderful and very pleasant, which helped the dining experience. Overall, I'm glad we checked out this place, but I don't think we will be back.
