I visited her majesty's pleasure for the first time on Sunday for a birthday treat with a friend, we got got signature manicures. Let me start by saying that everyone was extremely nice and attentive and I certainly don't want to throw anyone under the bus but the greeting by the staff is where the positive experience ends. My service was by far the worst manicure I have ever had. I can totally see why this place appeals to people, it really is gorgeous but service felt very amateur. I've never had my nails done where they didn't soak your hands in water (a manicurist there explained they do this deliberately to prevent your nail from expanding and getting coated unevenly) but it felt gross. Having someone file your nails and then rubbing the dusty powder residue into your hands with lotion was truly revolting. They at least could rinse your hands, and the 'massage' portion of the signature manicure is less than a minute of rubbing lotion on your hands. It seems like they put all of their focus into the appearance and not into providing service. My manicurist struggled with a basic request for a glitter ombré nail (it was one massive chunk of glitter at the bottom of my nail) and she had to redo my nails 3 times and it just wasn't working. She was sweet and apologetic but it was a lot of time wasted for something very basic, I figured a place like that would train people in popular requests. My friend booked her appointment for a manicure with nail art and was told immediately by her manicurist that she didn't know how to do nail art. The nail job itself was uneven and you could see parts of my nail through the polish, there were bubbles and the polish did not coat the entire nail resulting in a chip on the same day as the service. The polish didn't reach the bottom of my nail and she didn't graze the top of my nail with the polish like every other place to prevent the polish from chipping. Even my cuticles looked sloppy. When the staff at the cash register asked how my service was j told them it wasn't very good and after looking at my nails they agreed and offered 25% off of the service or a $25 gift card. I can appreciate the gesture and that they acknowledged it was a hack job (most places never admit fault) but it honestly wasn't enough to compensate for the 2 hours wasted there and the poor job. I got my nails done for an event and expecting me to go back to a place that did a bad job to correct it doesn't fix things and there wasn't enough time to fix them even if I wanted to visit the salon again. Long story short, the decor is lovely so I'd grab a drink or a pastry (the coffee sucked) on my way somewhere but i wouldn't trust any of the services again. The worst part is the high price tag for the bad job, when you pay a premium price you expect great service and professional results and unfortunately that was not the case. Perhaps they should work on training staff a little more than the cute decor.
