Roaring Fork was another Arizona Restaurant Week stop for me. The location is great and parking was easy to find. We were greeted by two friendly hostesses that informed us the dining room was full but we were free to look around the bar or patio. We immediately found a great spot in the bar. I personally like the bar better because it has a lot more of a relaxed atmosphere and I don't feel like I have to be so uptight. I got the tortilla soup as my first course which was very uniquely presented. It came in a bowl with the broth on the side. The soup had tortilla strips, chicken, avocado, corn, and some other tasty things and the broth was poured over everything at the table. No joke, this was probably the best I've ever had! I did not want to share! For my entrée I got the sugar crusted duck (cooked rare of course). I love duck. Like, you just can't go wrong with it. The skin was crispy and flavorful and the meat was tender and delicious. It came with green chili mac & cheese which was truly one of the best things I've had in recent memory. I have to take a moment to talk about my dining companions steak. He ordered the ribeye medium rare and when I asked him how it was he replied "really good but over cooked just a little bit." Now understand, I am a rare meat eating kind of girl and when I tried it I have to say it was one of the most flavorful steaks I've ever had! We both acknowledged how flavor almost never trumps how a steak is cooked but in this case we didn't even consider sending it back. I'm glad I tried this place through Arizona Restaurant Week and look forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu!
