| - Loved Reid's when it was downtown and had plenty of space. The new location in Selwyn seemed like it would be great (convenient location), but disappoints. It feels much stuffier than the old Reid's, has a smaller selection, and overall feels like a second tier Dean and Deluca. You'll find that you want to love it more than Dean and Deluca because it is local, but it doesn't measure up.
Parking is impossible - forget about finding a space during evening rush hour if you're thinking about stopping by to pick something up for dinner on your commute home. Don't even bother. Keep on driving. The inside of the store is very tight as well.
The other chief drawback is that the staff doesn't go out of its way to be friendly or helpful, particularly at the sandwich/deli counter.
Selection is interesting but limited. Maybe a little more reasonably priced than its chief local competitor, Dean and Deluca, but not by enough to make a difference. Before I gave up on the place, I stopped by several times on the way home from work to collect sandwiches and wine. Commonly they lacked all the ingredients necessary to make their sandwich as listed on the board, wait to get sandwich was excessive, staff was indifferent, and took a while to get a parking space. More than once the sandwiches didn't seem that fresh when we got them home. Sides (e.g., pasta salad) were not bad, though.
Given the inconvenient parking situation, and lack of warm atmosphere or great food, not sure that there is much reason to come here at all. It would be great if they went back to the model of the old store (which was a top flight deli downtown) in a larger space.
