| - Growing up in the Unionville area, I've always heard of the Unionville Arms. While the patio is not as large as Jake's (across the street), it was nonetheless a very popular pub.
The pub itself is very dated, the decor is old. There are a few television screens, but nothing special. The clientele seemed to be mostly older couples when we arrived.
Me and my friends started off by ordering drinks. I ordered a white freeze (yes, what looked like a cranberry cocktail), and my friends ordered a Heineken and a Pinot Grigio (house wine). My white freeze was a disappointment: given the name, you'd expect it first and foremost to be white, and secondly to be frozen. No. The waitress admitted their drinks never look anything like the photos.
As for food, I ordered the bangers, beans and mash. It was a major let down, the bangers tasted like breakfast sausages, and the beans were dry. The mashed potatoes weren't bad, but the meal could have been so much better. Would I reorder this? Probably not.
Overall, the restaurant atmosphere and service were up to par, but the drinks and food were no good. I'd come for the atmosphere and the service, but don't expect much when you order...
