  • Great place for candle lit dinners in the Bloomfield neck of the woods of Pittsburgh. We started off with an old fashioned, which was absolutely amazing. The Dark and Stormy, on the other hand, tasted a bit more like flat ginger ale with lime juice. Actually, my girlfriend started out with the Dark and Stormy and didn't like it/finish it and got the Old Fashioned. It had potential, but I would go with the Old Fashioned. The chicken liver mousse was very delicious. It was a cream cheese consistency and was garnished with something that was crunchy, crisp, and sour (sunchokes?). It had such a smooth texture and just melts in your mouth. This is no ordinary "pate" which look like gritty cat food pate. This is definitely a must have here if you like pate. I didn't have the salad, but my girlfriend and her boyfriend got the roasted carrots salad and local greens salad and ate then clean so... I presume it was good. The local greens looked very fresh and the greens in the bowl had a lot of volume to it (ie greens were not wilted). I'm not much of a veggie kinda gal. We all got the hanger steak which was very flavorful, but it was pretty chewy but that tends to be how hanger steaks are I suppose. I still highly recommend it. The Popcorn Panna Cotta was surprisingly delicious. I mean, I knew it would be good just not my thing since I don't have much of a sweet tooth for desserts in general but I was wrong. The panna cotta was server in a small mason jar and topped with caramel popcorn. It was very very good. Just imagine a delicious creamy custard topped with crunchy caramel popcorn. The lavender pound cake was pretty good, but I'd prefer the former. I didn't really taste the coconut pudding... it was two thick cuts of pound cake topped with some diced caramelized pineapples. Maybe the pudding was baked in to the cake? But I couldn't taste the coconut. The lavender was very subtle. It is very dense and moist cake, so this may have your name on it if you like pound cake, but I have also had dried out pound cake. For four people, the Panna Cotta got devoured, whereas there was still 25% if the cake left that we didn't want which I ate anyways just to get rid of. Wrapping up : Old Fashioned, Chicken Liver Mousse, Grilled Hanger Steak, and Popcorn Panna Cotta would be the course I'd recommend. In fact, I'd just get two Panna Cottas instead of one of each like we did. My girlfriend also said the salmon was very good, but she prefers the hanger steak if this nugget of information may help.
