| - Had a great time on this trip, which was a highlight of my cousin's bachelor party trip to Vegas. This was our one and only opportunity to leave Las Vegas and have some fun during the daytime, which was a great idea. My group was full of race fans and experienced riders, so we were excited to get out there and tear up some dirt. Only complaint was the waiting around once we got there. We used up at least 45 minutes of riding time just sitting around (read below for more):
Firstly, I'd like to give a shout out and thank Cassandra, who I spoke with on the phone, who was very helpful with scheduling and reserving our trip. She even gave us the seasonal discount of $149 per person. She went out of her way to update us on the specifics of our trip.
The rest of the staff were friendly and fun. Eric, our driver for the day, made the 1 hour van ride enjoyable and gave us tips for the rest of our trip. Roddy and the rest of our tour leaders were great too.
What can I say about the location? It was absolutely gorgeous and really gave you a feel for the Nevada desert. But you will feel like you're driving into the middle of nowhere, but that's just the West for ya.
Our tour group was large (my group of 3 plus another group of 11). We were split into 2 riding groups (experienced and beginners). I can't say much about the beginner group, but my experienced group had a good time. My cousin and I are speed demons, so we were trying to go full throttle the entire time, but were slowed down by the others in our group at the start, but they sped up later on with us. If I were to give a criticism, it would be to break the experienced guys into smaller groups. A pack of 6 was a bit too large for what we were looking for. I'd much more appreciate a bit more freedom to speed as much as I wanted. I did feel a bit restricted in the group of 6. I'm sure the beginners were fine, though.
Tip: If you want to go full throttle, stay to the back of the pack, slow down to create a gap, and then pick up the pace to catch up! My cousin and I had a great time racing, kicking up dirt, and getting air on some of the jumps/banks. Caution though: this was only because we were experienced riders and knew how to have fun SAFELY! There were no accidents in the experienced group at all (can't say that for the beginners, though, haha).
My cousin was riding a yellow 300 model Honda, whereas I had one of those red 200 models you see in the pictures. The 300s are a bit more powerful, so one of the guides took him for a loop over some dunes, which was fun to watch. I liked the bikes. Mine worked well and I was able to shift manually for a full riding experience.
And now for my one true complaint: the BREAKS! The water breaks were really too long and took away from the riding experience. All we wanted to do was go, Go, GO, but we wound up waiting a lot for the other groups to catch up, waited a lot after lunch, and waited around while the tour guides did "something" off on their own. It was fun climbing rocks and playing with the chipmunk wildlife, but I felt anxious to get back to riding. So, my only suggestion would be to make the breaks shorter.
