  • Living around the corner, it's been a place my kids love to go for ice cream. It's Kawartha's, so it's not even homemade, but it's the overall experience they enjoy of a huge "candy store". However my visit yesterday was nothing sort of a disappointment. Went in to buy Candy Apples, which i rarely do. First off, the store wasn't even busy, but you would think they would have someone on BOTH sides, not just the Ice cream side. Finally when there was, the staff that eventually arrived forgot to check her ATTITUDE. As she was at till, presumably opening the till, it was clear that she was ignoring me as I stood patiently. After asking for assistance in ordering, she asked me to wait, and then she proceeded to "get ready". I'm not sure how most places work, but if you're not ready to serve, you shouldn't be behind the counter. If you still need to take put away your bag, take your jacket off, put your hair up, you hat on, and your "uniform" on, why are you behind the counter looking as if you're ready to help customers? Finally ended up getting help from another person, who helped me get my order: 1 Decorated Candy Apple and 1 Fudge on a Stick. As he was packing the candy apple, the 1st "server" rung me up for the candy apple. After paying I realized the price (plus tax) was more than what was in the display. I mentioned this to her and she looked at her screen in a matter-of-fact way, "Decorated Candy Apple is $4.49". To which I replied, your display case has a price of $3.99. I'm not sure she knew what to do at that point as she just stood there looking at her screen as if to tell me I was wrong. Furthermore, she didn't even ring up the Fudge on a Stick that I ordered as well, so that was another strike. The best part? I advised that she may want to remove the sign from the display as it CLEARLY was wrong. You would think that if a customer is saying YOUR DISPLAY price is wrong, you would have the decency to actually check and verify, and perhaps...just perhaps actually do something about it rather than just stand there and give back attitude. This review isn't about the quality of consumables, but directly at the quality of the staff that I dealt with.
