UPDATE: Management contacted me promptly to resolve this situation. Their commitment to providing stellar customer service is obvious. They really do take their customer's concerns seriously and will work with the customer to resolve whatever issues may arise. Problems arise in any business relationship; how it is handled speaks volumes about a business. This is a good sign. I am therefore upgrading my review from 1 star to 5 star - they earned it! PREVIOUS: I signed a lease with American Self Storage in 2015. I had had bad experiences with national chains and routine rate increases. When I explained my experience to the previous managers at AMS upon signing the lease they said they "weren't like that" and that their rate increases were "infrequent" . Well, I am here to tell you their rate increases are no longer infrequent. I got my first increase in 2017 - $7/month. Now, exactly 1 year later to the date, I get another rate increase of $10 per month. If the amenities were also increasing yearly I could understand it but they are not. This is not a good sign.
