  • If you think that if you've been to a Whole Foods store that you've seen them all, you're sadly mistaken. I've been to over a dozen Whole Foods stores in a number of cities. Honestly, this University Heights store is easily among the best. How is it different than any of the others? Here's a few things to get you started... 1) Osteria and coffee bar - I was surprised to find that not many Whole Foods stores have these. The coffee bar is pretty awesome. The beans are roasted fresh right there in the roaster, and the coffee they serve isn't terrible either. The Osteria has amazing-looking food at pretty reasonable prices. 2) Local beer and wine section - the regular beer and wine sections are awesome, but this store is even more awesome for having a local section. Ohio has a surprising number of great microbrews, this makes is extremely easy to discover them. 3) 5x7 - I hate to say it, but this Friday evening event may have gotten too popular for its own good. When I started going in 2009, it was still relatively unknown; these days, even if you go right at 5pm, the lines are all pretty long. It's still worth going to anyway. Now, allow me to address some of the common complaints found here on Yelp. 1) "It's expensive." Yes, I get it. You live in Cleveland where the cost of everything is incredibly low, so when something isn't a ridiculous bargain it seems like a bad deal. Plus, there's this thing called "you get what you pay for." Whole Foods might not be "cheap", but I never understood the appeal of cheap. If something's a good value, it's a good value. 2) "The parking lot sucks." I don't quite understand the problem here. This store is located in a giant suburban strip mall with a giant suburban strip mall surface lot. But not only that... Whole Foods even went so far as to built another whole parking lot on the roof of the store! There is MORE than enough parking spaces at this complex than could ever possibly be filled. If having to park a few extra yards from the door is enough to ruin your day... well, then maybe this isn't the store for you.
