On a Saturday, after my car crapped out in the casino garage on New Year's Eve, I located a mechanic that was open on a holiday weekend with a mechanic on staff with experience with older BMWs. My 1993 525i would die at idle with an apparent fuel system problem. After arranging for a tow, the car doctors admitted my vehicle into its emergency ward and began diagnostics. They revealed an apparent problem with a valve gasket leak that was flooding the spark plugs and cylinder coil's with oil, apparently creating a short circuit Turns out, that wasn't the problem, so the car doctors dug deeper into the problem and eventually discovered a computer malfunction that regulated mass air readings causing the problem of stalling at idle. They bypassed the bad data circuit and fixed the problem, even working with the car to pass a required smog test due later that week. Though the process took longer than expected, they were thorough and extremely competent in their diagnosis and repairs. Other mechanics I contacted wouldn't even attempt a diagnosis. I had limited choices on a holiday weekend and I didn't want to take my car to a specialist or a dealer, so I went with the local, independent shop. I could not be more pleased with the result. The repairs came in on budget which was quite reasonable to begin with. I will take my car back there whenever I need general maintenance or repairs. Kudos to Bob and Thomas. Unconditional endorsement.
