Ok. So, we passed over this place several times in search of other restaurants during our 7 day stay in Montreal. Wish we'd come earlier. A gem of homemade Italian cuisine.
Started with the meatballs - wow. Tender and tasty, melt in your mouth balls of goodness. Fantastic appetizer. We also ordered the grilled octopus. It had a delicious char on the outside. Just enough to flavor bit not take away for the delicate taste of octopus. On a fresh salad with simple but fresh tomatoes, orange pieces and arugula. Stunning.
We ordered the puttanesca and the braised veal cheeks. Outstanding on both accounts. The puttanesca sauce was perfect. Salty, briny and with a bite mixed with al dente spaghetti. The cheeks took me back home to my Cuban roots. Fantastically meaty and with the right amount of fat, just perfectly braised. Oh, so tender meat. Accompanied with roasted potatoes and asparagus. Highly recommended as it was part of the fixed price menu. It included soup or salad and coffee or tea.
Great tiramisu and cannolis. Highly recommend this restaurant. And Francesco is so personable. Cannot wait to return to Montreal and visit this place. Felt like I was home.
