| - I need a windshield gasket fixed and the great Safelite reviews here on Yelp convinced me that this was the place that would do a good job. I went to: https://www.safelite.com and was encouraged to see a "Get Started " which I clicked.
Entered the 85212 ZIP and though "This is going to be easy".
Up came a "Work with your Insurance" and a "Pay on your own" selection."Nice", I though and clicked on the "Pay on your own" link that presented me with 3 "Glass" options and NO REPAIR option. I selected the "Replace other glass option", thinking this was just a internet page error, because they must be able to fix a leaking windshield gasket. Now they wanted my complete car information: Year, Make, Model, Style & VIN. Muttering, "Come on, this is just a gasket repair", I bailed.
Found a "Contact Us" link and clicked again. Another flag. 877 & 866 aren't AZ area code numbers and hoping I would be transferred from where ever I was calling back to AZ, I pressed on. Should have known better. The Customer Service number 877-465-5225 beeped a cute little something and hung up. I muttered "WTH" and tried again. This time I actually got a person, "OMG". I explained, she explained that the windshield would have to be removed and since I didn't know who did the last replacement, if they dropped and broke the windshield, their insurance wouldn't pay for it, SO they would not be able to fix the gasket. Guess I will look on Youtube and see if they have a DIY on windshield gasket repair.
Has American become a "Replace" society and NO One does repairs any more?
