  • After having an absolutely terrible experience at the Medical Plaza location, I was beyond hesitant to come here. My mother-in-law assured me that the people here are the best, and I decided to take her word for it. The waiting room is bright and welcoming. The front desk is clean and laid out so that you're face to face with the desk ladies the moment you enter the door. This was a welcome change from the other location. They were very helpful when taking my I formation and allowed me to fill out the forms right there at the desk. When I was done, I sat and waited. When the assistant came to get me, she was very friendly and talked me through everything. At one point, she did have to leave me alone, but she clearly explained to me that she was having difficulty finding my prescription from my current pair of glasses. I had actually never known how that worked, until she explained that the prescription is actually printed on the lens, but my current pair had it printed off to the side near the frame instead of in the center. As such, she had to ask for help with reading it. When she returned, she tried to take me to Dr. Hamp's exam room, but the door was closed. Instead of making me wait, we went into Dr. Eyeler's empty exam room, and she got me started by logging into the system what medications I am on, and other preliminary questions. Before even seeing Dr. Hamp, she informed me of what tests he wanted to run, and told me that they both do the same thing, but dilation is covered under my insurance while the other test was not. I opted for the dilation. We then left the room and headed to Dr. Hamp's exam room. When I met Dr. Hamp, he was very friendly. He immediately began trying to build a rapport with me, asking if I was in college and what kinds of things I like to do. He explained what to expect with each thing he did, and treated me more like a friend than a source of income. He honestly had better bedside manner than any doctor I had ever been to in my life. When the exam was over, he asked me if I had time to browse their selection of frames, instead of assuming my needs and pushing me around on his schedule. I did end up looking at frames, but none of them thrilled me. They informed me that I could go anywhere, and if I found frames that I liked, I just had to get the information, and they would order them for me. I found a pair at Lens Crafters, and have since returned to give them the info. They did indeed order them, but told me that they were backordered and the system said it would be about 15 days. The lady that was helping me then informed me that it is often longer than that, but they would call me in when they receive them, and that I would have to come in for a fitting before they put in the lenses. Thus far, I am beyond pleased, but it sounds like I will be going back at least two more times. If anything changes, or if they wow me even more, please look forward to an update to this post.
