| - How have I not written a review about this place yet? THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC.
Thank you yelpers for all the previous reviews. People, they are not wrong. The prices are GREAT especially for what you get.
I have been to several salons and they were 'ok' but never felt like I fit in and felt awkward in most. I'm not one to visit the salon much only when I have to or when I really need a change.
I had grown my hair out to the point where it was almost at my waist. The last few inches of it were dead and I was so annoyed by how heavy it was. I have a TON of hair. Anywho, I booked an appointment with Heidi who made arrangements with me through texts. Although I wasn't sure how to take this at first, I did end up liking it. I hate talking on phones and oddly enough it felt like texting a friend.
So I walked in, my first time there, and the artwork was funky. Odd but lovely. Apparently they have local artists featured every month or so. I was greeted by one of the stylists and Heidi came right on time and told me to come back with her. I sat down in the chair and told her I want to cut off all my hair and I want highlights. I showed her some pictures of Heidi Klum's short bob and told her I want this length and some type of highlight. OMG. Heidi hit the nail on the head when speaking with me. I have a hard time explaining what I want and she knew exactly what would look good and how it would work with my hair. This I appreciated. She went over what she was thinking about doing and I was completely on board. She mentioned doing ombre on my hair in a blonde highlight...It's like she read my mind. I have been to some highly known places in phoenix, along with some low quality salons in phoenix and never has someone really explained what they were going to do prior to cutting my hair.
As I was going for a bit of a drastic change, she said I seemed ready to cut it all off. She mentioned how sometimes people come in wanting a change, a drastic change, due to emotional responses and she tries to work with them to wear they will like it after the emotional response to something blows over. It seems as if her way of doing hair is to make she this cut will be one that a person can work with and love for more than a few days.
Anyways, she cut about twelve inches off... maybe a bit less... and asked if I wanted to give it to locks of love. Something that didn't cross my mind but was so happy she asked. She cut some of my hair dry, added highlights, washed my hair (I was so relaxed I thought I was going to fall asleep), and then walla! The end result was amazing. The result was ABSOLUTELY amazing.
I never book an appointment in advance or ever buy the products they want you to buy but here... I did and I did not regret it. I booked a second appointment with her and bought two gel products which I love.
The atmosphere is great. Drinks, COFFEE, and alternative feel. Love the brick walls, funky art, and Abel - who I guess is the owner. I discussed getting a tattoo while I was there and they gave me a card of someone who worked there. Friendly, authentic people here.
Since my first experience there, I have been there three times. Have referred my mother who also loved her experience with Heidi (who also booked another appt which never happens). I plan on going back soon. :)
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.
