I would have given 5 stars if I was only concerned with the service we received at the hospital. We had our baby girl in February and everything went great. The billing is where things got messed up. We set up a payment plan with them to pay $200 a month, I gave them my credit card information and they set up a schedule to take payments. They took the 1st payment on July 6th and took a 2nd payment on August 6th. On August 21st we got a call from a collection agency and discovered that our balance had been sent to collections. It makes no sense to set up a payment schedule, take 2 payments and then send us to collections. There must have been some clerical error on their end which I know can happen. What really aggravates me is that they refuse to remove it from collections so we can just continue the payment plan we set up. Now they are forcing me to deal with the collection agency for the remaining balance. They risked damaging my credit score because of their mistake and they refuse to accept responsibility for what they did. To make things worse the collection agency is telling us that we have to pay the full balance now or they will report us to the credit agencies, damaging our credit. If we try to continue the original payment schedule then our credit score will suffer.
EDIT:
I called back and got a different customer service representative who was much more helpful. She said that they would contact the collections agency and advise them not to report this on our credit report. She set up the same payment plan that we originally set up and everything seems to be good now. The experience caused some extra stress and took some extra time which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.
