| - For the last 11 years, if you were looking for me, all you've had to do was hang around 40th Street Cafe and I'd turn up eventually. I've tried virtually everything on the menu and we've built a few things that have been very successful. My #6 daily special is scrambled eggs with green chile & onions, hash browns, warm salsa & a flour tortilla. Not on the board, but Sherrie (and more than a few regulars) will know exactly what you mean.
I'm not a big chicken guy but the fried chicken strips with French fries would make the real Colonel proud!
Terrific coating, crunchy & tasty.
Don't miss the homemade soups. According to David Abella, a renowned chef, "complex & flavorful." He went to the kitchen to compliment the cooks.
The fried fish (special on Fridays) is among the best you'll enjoy. Again, a breading that fries perfectly & tastes great.
Peggy runs a fine, friendly, patriotic, community cafe. Enjoy it for what it is. There are very few left.
