CUTE PLACE. Chocolates. Coffee. Chocolate coffee.
What's the best way to impress a Belgium tourist than to visit Toronto's very own chocolatier? To compete Soma head-to-head with a native chocolate lover spoiled by world's greatest brands. Yes. That's the plan. Besides I haven't visited this new location before, so he really had no choice.
What's super cool is that chocolates come is a variety of never-seen-before flavours like:
- Thai Sticks - "like a bowl of Thai coconut soup!"
- Vietnamese Coffee Truffle - "100% Arcana spiked with coffee layered on a milky-sweet ganache"
- Douglas Fir - "A fruity chocolate from the Dominican Republic infused with the natural oils of the Douglas Fir tree. Think of eating chocolate in the middle of a Canadian Pine forest."
I totally think Soma represents the diversity we have in Toronto by fusing their favourite flavours into chocolates!
5 stars for the chocolates
5 stars for the chocolatiers
5 stars for the beautiful beautiful shop and its King Street location.
4 stars for the coffee! Good but pricey.
3 stars for the cashiers/the faces of the shop. Argh. So Toronto!
The chocolate-making action is actually in the back. The beautiful view of the street (and your sitting area) is in the front. Personally I think it's a little dim to work in the back like this! The only customers that can see them are the customers visiting the washrooms.
