  • I shopped a bunch of times at this Drug Mart earlier this year because I had relatives making a long term stay in one of the Crocker Road hotels, so needed a place close by to grab groceries and convenience items when it wasn't possible to get them at the supermarket. I normally go to the Lakewood Drug Mart and the selection at the two Drug Marts is really different. Obviously Drug Mart really tries to orient itself to the local shoppers which in Lakewood is more seniors and people on a budget, and in Westlake is more families who buy wine, kids' toys and youth clothing. The products available reflect this. Westlake Drug Mart gets points for having a better than average grocery selection. In addition to the usual milk, snack food, and drugstore items I was able to pick up some cool little sports toys and nifty winter hats. If you're not in a big hurry it's a good place to poke around and just see what they've got, and the prices are cheap. As someone else said it's like a general store. I'm only giving 3 stars though because (1) The layout of this store, especially for groceries, is very confusing till you get used to it. On my first visit I had to hunt all over the store for milk for at least 20 minutes. I know they are trying to put the groceries in places where you'll have to walk around the store and see (and maybe buy) other items, but having the milk case located in a totally different part of the store from all the other beverages and groceries and in a place where I had to search for it really defeats the purpose of "convenience store." Those of us who get milk for breakfast cereal or morning coffee have all experienced the need to just run in and grab a half gallon late at night when we discover we are out, and nobody wants to go hiking all over a store on a milk hunt when that happens. (2) The selections of some of the basic drugstore products were lacking here. I don't know if this is a regular lack or if the truck just didn't come the day I dropped by, but the feminine hygiene section only had a few brands and styles - fewer than the Lakewood Drug Mart. The selection of products for senior citizens is also much smaller here than it is in Lakewood. Apparently nobody gets old in Westlake, or if they do they don't shop at this Drug Mart. It's still worth a visit, especially if you're looking for something like chocolate wine instead of milk (might jazz up your Cheerios).
