  • I really liked the look of the salon and the people I chatted with, including the owner, but I had a similar experience to Brittany U. as far as the chipping on my gel manicure, although I didn't read her entire review, and my mani-pedi did not take so long, was done in under 2 hours. I also didn't like the choice of colors as stated by Sarah R. in her review, but I settled on one that turned out fine. I had tried to take photos of the chipping like I just saw when reading these reviews [after the fact], but they didn't seem to show my issue as well. So here is my story: I got this deal on Groupon, and paid $10 extra at the salon for the gel coat manicure. I got a neutral color so as not to be obvious while nails grew, and it was guaranteed to last two weeks. Even though I mentioned I'd had issues in the past about polish over the cuticle which was not properly removed, I was not happy with the extra cuticle the tech left before she applied the gel coat. I wanted it to go all the way to the nail bed, of course, but I didn't say anything, hoping it would look okay for the two weeks promised. I scheduled for the day before I left on vacation. The day after I got to my destination, the gel polish on my right thumb nail chipped off in about 1/4 inch strip from the tip about half-way to the cuticle on the left side. Two days later my right nail chipped along the right side in a bigger strip, literally from the the cuticle. I did not do dishes while away or anything that would cause the gel coat to chip. I left a phone message on the Monday after I got back a week later (they were closed) explaining my issue, was going to ask for a repair on my thumb nails or gel polish removal, or even a discount on a return visit, and the greeting promised a call by the next day. I never heard back and it is now a week since I left that voicemail. The rest of my nails stayed passable through the week, but I had a wedding reception to attend this past Saturday night--2 weeks after the manicure--and even though I had a few other small chips, the nails would have been okay for that night. I had to strip off all of the gel coat and do a new manicure myself so my nails would look decent. I tried calling before posting anything derogatory with Groupon, or a review on Yelp, to see how they would handle my problem and waited an entire week for a response. So, here I am, very disappointed that this business chose to totally ignore my phone call--not a good way to create good will or retain repeat customers who discovered them with a deal. UPDATE: It has been a week since I posted this review and no response from the salon. As I looked through previous reviews, I noted the owner responded to one "negative" review, yet responded and thanked most clients who posted "positive" reviews. From these reviews, I get the impression that the type of gel polish they use may be to blame for the chipping, but in my case, the cuticle treatment and application needs improvement also. I still don't understand why a new business owner would not reach out and totally ignored my phone call and review . . .
