  • I have read the reviews and nobody has said that they tried eating all the gelato, sorbet and soft serve flavours at Kekou Gelato. Since nobody has done it, I volunteered myself to do the job. It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it lol. I ate all the gelato, sorbet and soft serve flavours that were available at Kekou Gelato on Queen St. W. during February to April 2017. You can ask for samples to taste test. (1) My MOST favourite flavours in no particular order: NUT BASED FLAVOURS * Green Bean Coconut Gelato - Bite into green bean pieces. Definite taste of coconut. * Peanut Sesame Gelato - Definite taste of Asian peanuts * Black Sesame Gelato - Tastes the same like hot black sesame soup served as a Chinese dessert * Almond Tofu Gelato - Nice mild flavour FRUIT BASED FLAVOURS * Osmanthus Plum Berry Sorbet - Wonderful fruit flavour. There are tiny seeds to bite into. * Mango Sorbet - Nice, true taste of mango. Not too sweet * Durian Gelato - I have to try eating stinky durian fruit. It's suppose to smell like sh!t, but taste good! COFFEE/TEA BASED FLAVOURS (Must try for coffee/tea drinkers) * Oolong Tea Gelato - Strong flavour. Drank hot Quang Zhao Milk Oolong Tea and Formosa Oolong Tea. Gelato tastes better than the tea! * Vietnamese Coffee Gelato - Strong flavour like cappuccino. Drank hot Vietnamese Coffee. Gelato tastes better than the coffee! * HK Milk Tea Gelato - Strong flavour * Jasmine Tea Gelato - Mild flavour. I like this better than Whiskey Green Tea * Hojicha Soft Serve - This roasted Japanese green tea soft serve is full of flavour. I prefer Hojicha over Almond Tofu Soft Serve, which has a sweeter taste. CHOCOLATE BASED FLAVOURS * Red Bean White Chocolate Gelato - Bite into red bean. Definite taste of sweet white chocolate. (2) My OK flavours in no particular order: * Spicy Salted Pineapple Gelato - Definite taste of spicy, saltiness, and pineapple * Rosewater Pistachio Gelato * Rum and Condensed Milk Gelato - Holy crap rum alcohol in the gelato! Not for little kids. Hard taste of rum makes hard to taste the condensed milk. * Whisky Green Tea Gelato - Made with Chivas Regal 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky in the gelato * Almond Tofu Soft Serve - Sweeter than Hojicha Soft Serve and not as flavourful. (3) My LEAST favourite flavours: * Chocolate Ginger Sorbet - Has dark chocolate made with greater than 70% cacao powder giving bitter and unsweetened taste. Ginger used tastes bitter not like ginger served with sushi. * Soursop Sorbet - Weak taste from soursop fruit The alcohol flavoured gelatos tended to be softer than other gelatos. Ideas for new flavours. Since Kekou Gelato has developed a gelato flavour using beer, rum or whisky, how about a gelato flavour using cognac, Canadian ice wine or Canadian dessert wine? Pair raspberry with a raspberry dessert wine to create a raspberry sorbet.
