A Lake Mead National Recreation Area volunteer suggested Hemenway Valley Park for our kiddos, ages 3 and 4.
This park stays fairly crowded with Bighorn Sheep gawkers.
We were here at around 4:30 in the afternoon one mid-September day and the herd was sizable - the Ovis canadensis kind, that is.
Some people moved dangerously close to the male sheep for selfies. I scratched my head thinking, "Yeah, they're smaller than they seem, but wait until he rams your skull with his."
When we got there, our girls wanted to go straight to the playground which they enjoyed, but I don't think bigger kids would like it as much.
Dogs are not allowed. Probably because of Mr. Grumpy Pants Overprotective Bighorn Daddy who stayed alert of each human newcomer.
I'd recommend a visit here especially if you enjoy seeing free range Bighorns - they're everywhere! There is also Lake Mead in the background.
