This place is a great getaway from Las Vegas and it is not that far. There is a lot of hiking opportunities around the resort and the new Spring Mountain Gateway. The Gateway is also hosts a Memorial to the engineers and scientists who perished during a plane crash on the mountain in the 1950s. They were all headed to the now famous Area 51 site to work on the U2 spy plane project. It is worth the stop. The rooms while a bit outdated are clean and do have amenities. The patio is a great place to relax. They just began outdoor entertainment on Saturdays for the summer. The small bar is a great hangout and for those who like slots, there are several. They have a bar menu and all appetizers are good, the best are the chicken nachos :) The restaurant sometimes appears a bit chaotic, that is because they are always busy and the food is good. Locally, there are coupon offers by email and in the mail that include a stay, dinner and breakfast for a discounted price and these are great incentives. Out of towners visiting Vegas, this is worth an over-nighter out of Vegas and it is a nice drive.
