  • I stayed at the Renaissance last week for my birthday, and I have to say that I was not totally happy. The check in process went smoothly but when we got to our room it was very cold. My husband cut up the heat to no avail, because the room never warmed up. After leaving out for a couple hours because I was celebrating my birthday the room never warmed up. We decided to call the front desk and the maintence man came to our room to look at the heating system. He did acknowledge that there was a problem, and proceeded to try and fix it. Long story short, the room never heated up. I had to call downstairs and ask for extra blankets, because it was that cold. He actually came back up to bring us a space heater because it was that cold in our room. I wasnt happy with everything, we was never offered a different room, or anything. I feel for the amount of money this room cost, there should have been other options. Luckily I had the room comp because I do gamble quite a bit at the casino, but its no excuse. I have paid several hundreds of dollars for a hotel room downtown and in other cities, and have never experience that before. I'm not sure if the hotel treats guests that are paying and guests that rooms are comp differently, but I can say I felt some type of way. Not only that but we had our child with us as well. I truly feel that if that was another family that actually paid for the night and not had a comp room, things would have been very different. I really hope that they are not discriminating based on that, because we could have an even bigger problem. I actually got another offer to stay several nights at this hotel again and I'm hoping that the stay is very different. I called today and spoke with the manager Jessica, about the problem that I had on my birthday. She didnt seem apologetic, the only things that she said was that she would have maintence come and check our room before we arrive, to make sure that there isnt any problems in our room, which I appreciate. I have to be honest I do feel that a hotel of this status, should have done more. Not even an apology. So hopefully with our next stay we dont experience the same problems. I must say that I have stayed at a lot of downtown hotels and this is the only problem that I experience. My husband and myself work very hard and if I decide to use our hard earned money at the casino, and they offer us comps rooms, I feel that we should be treated like regular paying guest. There shouldnt be a difference. EVER!
