We had heard some good things about Mindful and wanted to check it out the next time we were in town. We stopped in to check it out and were a little underwhelmed.
It was really busy when we got there (around 2pm) and there was about a 45 minute wait to sit down for food. We weren't too worried about grabbing a bite to eat there as we really just wanted to try the beer; so, we went toward the bar to try to grab a seat. The bar area was totally packed and there was nowhere to sit there, either.
[There was a private party being held upstairs which may have contributed to the lack of seating/long wait.]
Since there was nowhere to sit, we grabbed a few drinks from the bartender and stood near the coolers along the wall. The beer we ordered was okay - nothing that really wowed us.
We had to use the restroom and the women's bathroom on the first level was locked (as it's a single unit) the entire time we were there. When we mentioned it to the hostess, she said someone must be in there and walked away. Luckily, they had a bathroom upstairs; but, we felt awkward heading up there since it was reserved for a party. I am surprised they don't have more stalls for how large the venue is/how crowded it can get.
I know that this is a relatively new brewery and the location/venue itself is awesome. I'm hopeful that next time we visit, we will have a better experience. They do have a lot of options for single bottles/cans in the coolers (which was neat as bottle shops are only now getting more popular in Pgh). The prices didn't seem too bad, either.
