| - I had to come to town on short notice and Super 8 was the only motel around the area that had significantly low rates; driving up Orange Place, I really couldn't see why the other places were trying to charge more--they looked pretty similar.
Front desk service was EXCELLENT. Seriously! I was allowed to check in early with no problem, despite having not requested it. The lobby was very clean, and the complimentary coffee was surprisingly good (and always fresh). I missed breakfast every morning because I'm not trekking down at 6 AM to get scrambled eggs, but hey, it's available if you want it.
The room itself is decent. It fit what I needed, which is a place to sleep with working outlets and a washroom. The biggest problem I had with the experience was the door on my room, which seemed to not be totally in the frame--it jutted out on the lower left side and looked like someone had tried to maybe kick it in at one point. But the deadbolt was secure, so that's fine. Beachwood is a pretty decent neighborhood, so I wasn't too worried.
It seemed like most of the other guests were in town for similar reasons--something unexpected that brought them to this neck of the woods. But I mean, for $65/night, you can't really argue. The location is wonderful--there's a bunch of restaurants you can walk to nearby (Wasabi, for one) that are really great. I would stay here again if I found myself in need of a motel in the neighborhood.
