Went here today with 80% certainly I was going to buy a Kawasaki Z125 just for commuting. I've owned and rode full-size street bikes for 12 years. I was a little bit worried that it would be too small for me.
I walked in and Greg the salesman ran over immediately, just as salespeople do. I told him I was interested in the Z125. I sat on it and it felt pretty decent. I'm not the type to buy something for $3k without trying it first.
I asked she salesman if I could test drive it and he said no. After that he started talking down to me. He treated me as if I was a 16 year old that goes from dealership to dealership just test driving motorcycles and beating on them. I explained to him that it seems crazy to buy something that expensive without riding it to know if you like it first.
He said "I've been selling bikes for (insert number I don't care about) years. No one really lets you test drive bikes. Too much liability."
Ok, sure. I'm not going to take the liability of buying a bike I might not even like.
I've never had an issue with a dealership letting me test ride anything. My last two ZX6R bikes were both purchased from a Kawasaki dealership and both test rode before I signed anything. I have a motorcycle endorsement and
I understand that $3000 isn't a lot of money compared to other things they sell. No reason to disrespect people though. The salesman literally told me that he was willing to lose the sale over this.
I called GoAZ.com in Scottsdale as soon as I left. The salesman was very nice on the phone and immediately offered to let me test ride one of the Z125s. I'm going there on Wednesday to check it out and hopefully buy a new motorcycle.
I can't recommend people go here for anything.
