Thanks to AZSDR I found my soulmate, Emytt. He was a stray, and even though he isn't a small dog they took him in anyway. From what I understand they are now under new management, and they have had some remodeling. I got my Emytt about 6 months ago and was very pleased with the whole experience. I had never adopted an animal before and didn't know what to expect.
I first laid eyes on Emytt before he was ready to be adopted, he still needed some shot updates and to be neutered. I knew I wanted him right away but was super anxious because he's a big guy and I wasn't positive I had what it takes to be his best mommy. I talked to the staff and they were very honest and knowledgable about his breed and what kind of home Emytt needed. After a lot of thought I realized Emytt was for me. When he became available for adoption I went to an adoption event in Surprise as soon as they opened and begun the adoption process. They handed me a thorough application asking about the environment Emytt would be going home to and I had to sign permission that they could possibly check on him at anytime to ensure it. I also had to sign an agreement that if for any reason I couldn't keep Emytt I had to surrender him back to AZSDR, which made it pretty clear these people don't just push dogs out to anyone and forget about them, they stay invested for their whole lives.
I now have a healthy and happy husky and I don't know what I'd do without him!
