  • We actually had our pool remodeled back in 2014 and we've been experiencing issues ever since. I was hoping all of the issue would be corrected before posting a review, but since that hasn't happened, I decided to go ahead and complete this review. We initially worked with Nick to plan out the remodel. He was awesome and probably a big part of why Aquavida Pools gets any business; however, things fall apart after Nick makes the sale. We "worked" with Yolanda almost exclusively during the actual remodel. I say "worked" with because our experience with her was incredibly difficult between the lack of communication, apathy, and total absence of any oversight. I feel like we had to chase her down constantly to figure out what was going on; workers wouldn't show up when they should have and they showed up when they shouldn't have. This was incredibly difficult for us as we had to lock our dogs up during the work. The work itself was actually pretty good. We're happy with the PebbleTec, waterline tile, and the travertine decking, though we had many issues along the way. I'd chalk it up to the fact that no one was on sight to manage the project. First, one of the pop up holes on the bottom step was covered over. Aquavida tried to tell me there was no hole there, but the photo I produced convinced them they were wrong. They uncovered the hole, but no water came out of it causing them to claim that the plumbing to the hole must have been compromised before they started work. Wrong again. They finally had a specialist come out and clean out the hole. What was in it? Their makeshift "plug" and lots of shotcrete and PebbleTec material. I also noted they tiled right over the air intake tubes for the loveseat bubblers. This was corrected, but the look of it is not nearly as clean as it should have been (it looks like they had to guess where the tubes were when creating new holes in the tile). They also claimed that they could not locate the fittings for the jacuzzi bubblers as they were so old, though I was able to find the correct fittings online. I replaced them myself in minutes, though I don't feel I should have had to do that myself. Aquavida replaced our old pop ups with their own proprietary "HydroWave" pop ups. These pop ups themselves have been nothing trouble from the beginning and we have had ongoing issues with the way the pop ups were plumbed. The HydroWave pop ups themselves have been a pain. Between failing to pop up, falling apart, and failing to turn as they're supposed to, there is no way I would recommend these to anyone. Aquavida has sent people out to replace the pop ups a handful of times, but we're still experiencing the same issues two years later. Also, we were told the water pressure would be evenly distributed to each of the pop up zones (specifically we were told the plumber (aka tile guy) would use a float bag to determine which pipe went to which pop up, but this did not happen). The system was plumbed haphazardly causing some sections to get too much pressure while others did not receive enough to even make the pop up, well, pop up. Aquavida came out several times and re-plumbed the system, though the pressure is still nowhere close to even between the sections and the pipes look like a bowl of spaghetti. We have tried to deal with Aquavida regarding these issues over the last two years, but any progress has been stymied by Yolanda each time. I even asked to speak with the owner, Thomas, on several occasions, but access was denied. It's funny because the first time I used Aquavida (probably 5 years prior to this remodel), the company was small and Thomas himself came out for the quote I requested. He seemed like a great, innovative guy, but it appears the company has gotten a little too big. While this company can do some good work, be prepared to manage the project yourself. If their quote seems too good to be true, it's probably because it is. Temper your expectations, though you're still likely to end up disappointed.
