| - I've been wanting to try one of those float tanks for a while, and I finally booked myself an appointment today, and I'm glad I did.
What a cool and relaxing experience. When you go in, it's your own private room complete with a shower and space to change. Once you have a quick shower, then you get into the tank. I was worried I'd be claustrophobic but if you're sitting on your bum I could almost straighten my arm up before touching the top of the "pod"., so there's lots of space. I decided to close the hatch and I felt fine in there - it was warmer that way and a bit quieter.
There's something like 1,000lbs of Epsom salt in there even though it's only 11" of water. Took me a while to get used to the feeling of just floating, and to totally relax. But I felt really great afterward and would definitely do it again. They provided ear plugs which is great since the water covers your ears and hair while you're lying down. I could see how it'd be nice doing a massage, and then adding a 30min "float" after.
For a first visit I'd recommend maybe 45min, I found 60min a bit long personally, but everyone is different.
The spa itself is clean with nice decor and they have a really easy online booking system that sent me an email reminder 2 days before and a text 2 hours before. The best part is that it's owned and run by a fellow mama, who was really nice and very helpful today for my first visit.
For people not familiar with the area, the spa is located in the outdoor "galleria" walkway area, if you find the Tim Horton's along the west side of the building, you'll see the alleyway of businesses, and the spa is about midway down.
Looking forward to my next session hopefully soon.
