So, I jettisoned off of my bike onto the gravel shoulder of the road 2 weeks ago (uh... that was unintended in case you're wondering). Anyway, after a trip to the ER, torn AC ligaments in my shoulder and bruised ribs, I was certain I'd have to take a break from my chiropractic care. Doh! I was wrong.
Dr. Bates insisted I come in to get checked out. I was a bit freaked out thinking "I can't handle this" right after my little mishap, but again I was wrong. It was the *best* thing I could've done. Slowly and very gently, Dr. Bates has made sure that my neck and the rest of my form didn't get too out of whack while my shoulder and ribs were healing. (If I hadn't gone in, I would've compensated for the injury by hunching over and freezing my shoulder into a protective "broken wing" kind of posture for many weeks.)
So, I learned something new from my unfortunate accident, despite my fear of getting treated right after a fresh injury -- it was the best thing I could've done. I'm already getting mobility back in that damaged shoulder. This just through some gentle, non-aggressive treatment. Thanks Dr. B.
