I would like to share my experience with AllState and how well I was treated "In Good Hands"
I purchased my first vehicle last December. This was very exciting and I was handed a business card from the dealer to purchase AllState for my vehicle coverage. I have never had my own insurance coverage as I was always under my mother's insurance policy. I told the agent that I was purchasing a vehicle and I needed FULL coverage. She was extremely friendly and helped me through the process. I did everything over the phone and online.
I drove off the lot with my new car and my new policy with AllState. I have paid my bill on time EVERY SINGLE MONTH. When my husband returned from Saudi Arabia I added him to my policy for my car and we purchased FULL COVERAGE insurance for his motorcycle. I had to speak to a different agent because I could not reach the one who signed me up originally. I had to call multiple times because they made multiple mistakes when adding him including our address, the spelling of his name and contact information.
We continued to pay our insurance on time every single month. I was AUTO RENEWED for my coverage and never contacted to discuss anything to do with my policy.
A couple weeks ago something completely awful happened. My sister in law borrowed my car and hit another vehicle with my car. It is not drivable. I was soo upset but I think "It's OK! I have full coverage insurance!" Turns out I was wrong. It was not ok. That amazing agent that signed me up for my policy gave me 50k in property liability coverage, comprehensive coverage and rental coverage. She did NOT include collision coverage on my policy. I DID NOT know this. This was my first time purchasing a policy and I did not know what to look for. I did not expect to have to double check her work! I was financing a car and was required to have full coverage, even if this wasn't the case I would have asked for it anyway! That is what I asked for! It is not what I was provided!
No one mentioned anything when I added my husband to my policy. Or when I called to fix the mistakes I did notice. No one called me to renew my policy and talk about my lack of coverage.
After a TWO WEEK long "investigation" in which I needed to rent a vehicle as mine was not running I am told I will not be provided with the coverage I asked for!
This was a mistake made by AllState! No I did not catch it because I did not know what I needed to look for. I did not know I needed to check the work of someone who works for the company. I was not treated with "good hands". I am a mother of 2 children and currently pregnant. I can not afford to fix my car on my own and the insurance I relied on is providing me with no help. I even offered to pay the back pay of the coverage as I did not know I was not paying it!
I will be cancelling my policy as well as my husbands and I will do my best to make sure everyone I know knows how AllState treated me in my time of crisis. It just goes to show insurance companies will only take advantage of you and not be there when you need them. This company is probably jumping up and down because they don't have to pay for my car. They are happy they made a mistake. They don't care about me or my family.
What a disappointment! False advertisement when promised to be treated "in good hands"
