| - Have enjoyed purchasing items from the in-store bakery in the past but had a disappointing experience with a custom birthday cake order. We ordered for my son's 4th birthday and the cake had several problems and was very different from the info we had discussed at the time she took down my order.
1) We wanted it to say happy 4th birthday, which she had written down on her order form, but the cake left out the "4th" (which is a big deal to a kid that young...).
2) We ordered a layer of fresh strawberries to go in between the layers of the cake, and we were charged for them, but they were not actually included in the cake.
3) Instead of hand-drawing dinosaurs with frosting all over the cake as we were expecting, there was just one cut-out fondant dinosaur in front of the cake which looked like it didn't take much time or effort to do. The rest was pretty actually. but, this brings me to the next issue...
4) The colors used on the cake were weirdly red white and blue, giving a july 4th look to the cake, when we had asked for it to be colorful for a kid's birthday.
5) The happy birthday was written on a paper banner stuck into the top of the cake, which we had to remove since it would have gone up in flames next to the candles.
6) Worst of all, the box the cake came in did not even have a top covering. There was a piece of fuzz that had flown in, and it was a cloudy/windy day and I was worried other things would fly into it as I transported it home. The cashier tried to stuff the cake into a regular grocery sized bag from the store but it didn't fit, so she ended up trying to tape a piece of the grocery bag over the top.
Very disappointing overall and feels like it was a rush job done without much consideration for
what we talked about at time of order. I would definitely not order a custom cake from here again, especially considering the price of the cake. Disappointing and not worth it.
