| - I love mom and pop shops and especially when it's pizza! It made it even better that they have a vegan option! It is a pretty small establishment though; cozy, but I think I'd rather get my food to go each time because it would seem to be claustrophobic if there were at least 5-10 more people there. Located in midtown, so it's in a great location!
I went with my mom for lunch and it was surprisingly no one else in there (kinda had me skeptical) but I still wanted to try my first vegan pizza. I set my sights on getting ONE slice of pizza, but apparently they only offer the vegan slice if it is one of the pizzas of the day, otherwise you have to buy the whole pie. I was a little disappointed but my mind was set on the pizza so I just ordered the whole pie anyways, and not regretfully!
It took a little longer than expected to get our pizzas since we were the only ones in there but I guess you can't rush perfection right? My mom ordered a slice of the American pizza and a slice of the Bacon Spinach Mushroom pizza and I ordered the Berkeley Vegan pizza. All of the pizzas smelled really good! My pizza was so impressive, I feel like I could get used to vegan pizza and not miss cheese at all! Although the cheese is clearly not the same texture, it tastes more like a thick "sauce" than the hearty cheese that most know and love. Besides the cheese, all the other flavors were there and went well together! You could (almost) not taste the difference from a regular pizza. My mom really favored the Bacon Spinach Mushroom pizza with the white sauce and artichokes, she said both were good but that one was REALLY good.
I really enjoyed this place and wouldn't mind coming back again to order the vegan pizza, it will just take some getting used to the "cheese" texture! Customer service was great, they were helpful and I love when the staff makes suggestions. Although the cashier seemed a little new and took awhile to ring up our order, I appreciate everything the workers did to make it an enjoyable first visit.
