| - Based upon their rather stellar AAA and BBB reviews, I had Quality perform a ground-up (and, not cheap!) rebuild of the OEM transmission in my 2002 Acura MDX back in July, 2011 for just under $3,400. Quality's 2011 rebuild itself then failed in mid-2014 for whatever reason (certainly not me hot-doggin' it, or failing to flush or maintain it, as those days are long gone!), just beyond the 2 year-24,000 mile warranty period. As you may note (from Quality's website, and current as of my Yelp review today), this is completely inconsistent with what even they state a client should expect: "We expect that a transmission that we rebuild should last at least as long as the original, and not just through the warranty period."
The devil's in the details, of course, but, in mid-2014, after a fair amount of (figurative) arm-wrestling between me, Bob Jones (the 70-something YO owner, bless his heart) and Steve (the shop manager), I again had Quality rebuild the transmission for appx. $3,600, 75% of which they "ate", and 25% of which was on my nickel.
All considered, I cannot say that I was thrilled to spend another $900+ to rebuild my vehicle's transmission a mere 3 years after I had already done so, but I do feel that Quality more or less "made it right". While the original rebuild's failure just outside of the warranty period (appx. one-third as long as the OEM unit lasted, btw) prevents me from otherwise providing Quality with a 5-star review today, I believe that Quality's leadership and techs were both honest and capable, and that is all I can ask for.
When (not if) I need transmission service in the future, I will certainly call them, and continue to refer those in need of transmission services to them.
