The workman's friend is a great addition to the plaza midwood space and brings a true Irish bar feel with great eats and common Ireland drink staples. My wife and I have been here a few times now, and never have been dissapointed. While our most recent trip was only for drinks while waiting for Soul Gastrolounge, it was still a fun experience sitting at the bar, talking with other people, and getting the Irish bartender (who was from Cork) to help us correct our pronunciation of Smithwicks - which will be helpful when we travel to Ireland later this year!
Regarding food, I have had some great dishes here. The iron skillet chicken for dinner is a solid choice and I always enjoy a good shepherd's pie. My favorite meal I've had here was definitely brunch, where I got a BLT and my wife got sliders - awesome combinations of flavors in a fun presentation.
I will say this place is a bit dark inside. While it is a nice contrast to the overly fluorescent lit bars and restaraunts that seem to cover the city, I do notice several patrons struggle to read the menu - and often pull out the flashlight apps on their phones! In spite of this, the atmosphere feels authentic, which this city can struggle to accomplish sometimes. Also be sure to check out their back patio on nice days.
