| - I wish I could give less than a star.
Please don't go here. There are some scary shenanigans happening at this place, and you don't want to be a part of it. I promise.
I booked online through hostelworld.com and paid a $10 deposit. I realized I had accidentally booked for the wrong date so I promptly emailed the hostel and asked if they could change the date. I received an email saying that all I had to do was show up as a "walk-in" on the date I wanted, and that they couldn't change it through the website, because it's "not their site."
I hoped there wouldn't be an issue, but when I arrived with my two travel companions I was told that there were no rooms available.
I told them I'd received an email from the manager saying that I would be able to walk in. They ended up giving us a room for a higher price than we originally expected.
The room was disgusting. Rat trap, stains on the bed, hair on the pillow cases, half-eaten food on the table that took up the whole room, leaving no space to access the beds. Ridiculous.
We booked a room nearby at The Rex Hotel for the same price, where I am currently writing this review.
The weirdest part was the strange exchange between the girl who greeted us at the desk and the manager. She was on the phone a lot with her bosses saying they were very upset, and "very upset with her," that "she'd get in trouble" for the situation...
We requested a refund, and she didn't want to talk to the owner because she said he would be upset with her... so we called him... and there was lots of confusion. Language barrier and then some...
The manager was friendly and gave us our refund very quickly, but he did not seem as friendly with the girl at the desk, to say the least.
One word about this place:
YIKES.
