| - The front desk staff, teachers and other students were all extremely warm and welcoming and one of the teachers who just finished class took me on a quick tour... Something I don't think I've ever had as a new student at any of the 25+ studios I've tried all over the country. That was an welcoming introduction. For the class... I'm more of a traditional-style yoga person so it was a shock. Tape on the floor where to put your mats, no Sanskrit, no real savasana, etc. I usually prefer a class that focuses more on intention, doing things at your own pace and ability level, mindfulness, etc... This was not that. At all. I felt like the room was so hot I wasn't able to focus on my breath or the right way to do the poses. Also the class moved very, very quickly - which was mentioned in the description, however I've been practicing yoga for 8 years and am currently getting certified to teach so I feel that if I felt it was moving too quickly to be sure what pose to be in I cannot imagine what would happen to someone who did not have a lot yoga experience. While I felt I got a great work out and I will certainly come back another time or two when I'm nearby, this is a far cry from my normal yoga class experience... Which I think will be a good thing to sprinkle in occasionally. I can see the appeal for competitive and type-A people who need to sweat in order to feel like they got a work out from their yoga class, however many yoga classes build heat internally, not from a loud heater in the corner. A place like this is a great alternative for the people who don't like the touchy-feely type yoga class, so I'm glad it's out there and I'm glad I gave it a try. It's always good to get out of your comfort zone and clearly they have found a niche that was needed in the Charlotte market because the classes are packed. However I hope that people 100% new to yoga don't think this is representative of what most yoga studios are like; it's not at all. I do worry that there is not enough adequate instruction on poses and knowing your own limitations and while I do know the poses and know what my body can and cannot do, I don't think everyone in the class could say the same.
