When it is hot in Las Vegas - Mt Charleston is a great place to cool off. Mary Jane Falls is just before the Lodge... so it is only about a 25 minute drive from my house. It was 93 degrees in Vegas and about 65 from the start of the trail head.
It is a 3 mile round trip hile. The first half is an easy hike/walk. About half way to the falls the trail gets steeper and turns into a switch back. The trail gets narrow and uneven so you definately want to watch your step.
It is more than a leisurely walk, but I would say the average person can get up there. At the top there is a MARTINI BAR and they serve TAPAS!!!
There are a few waterfalls but I don't think the falls last throught the summer. There was still snow up there as of June 4. They have some caves up there, too.
It is always refreshing to get into some trees and fresh air!
