  • What the heck is with The Bay? I have had two purchases with them as a new customer (the first one because they were one of two retailers in all of Canada who carried the item I was looking for and the second item to use up a credit note from the first experience) and each time the transactions were beyond comically bungled. Everything they could possibly screw up in a retail transaction they screwed up. Shopping with them and then navigating their screw ups to get whatever I paid for at the price they said has turned into a part time job for me. I have worked a lot of retail jobs and if I did 1/10 of the stuff they have done I would have been fired in any well run company. Not at The Bay. This "Canadian institution" is a dinosaur and needs to be euthanized the way of Eaton's. Appalling customer service from poor staff training and standards on the floor all the way up to a non-system of high customer service standards. Beyond disorganized, from the complete lack of their online and in-store branches of the company working cooperatively together, to the online shopping fulfillment being about as successful as an ecommerce experience can be circa 1998. As soon as I get my money back (which will no doubt entail another hour(!) of waiting on hold on the phone, another email to the misnomered "customer service", another angry consumer review (maybe Google this time?), some chicken bones and a voudou priest (joke, but it's that ridiculous) I will NEVER shop at the Canadian equivalent of a zombie apocalypse. I could get into a long explanation of specifics, but suffice to say, they have stolen (by way of incompetence) $120 of my actual dollars (not a missed discount, an actual credit note) and cancelled an order without explanation on an item I needed by a certain date (luggage for an upcoming trip). Shocking behavior. Next steps: Better Business Bureau and a full on social media campaign
