  • Visited this park a couple days with my parents and another couple. We were all quite pleased with the whole shebang. First off - If you go: Prepare to spend money on admission. It cost my husband and I each $39.99 + tax to get in. My dad and his wife, seniors, paid $37.50 + tax apiece. Kids up to age 13 cost $19.99 + tax. When we walked up to the counter and saw the prices, we all balked and wanted to turn around immediately, but since we'd made the 45 minute drive out there already, we went ahead with it. By the end, we did not mind the steep admission one bit as we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and felt it was worth it. The park is HUGE and took us (healthy, agile, sporty adults) over 3 hours to walk around the place, and we didn't stop at every animal along the way, though we probably stopped at most to read the signs, etc. The park does have rides inside - Imagine kiddo sized 'Six Flags' rides. Small and short. So for adults, probably not gonna thrill you, but if you have kids... Man, they would love it! The biggest issue with the rides, like other reviewers have said, is that you have to pay extra ON TOP of the admission you already paid for the animals. Prices range between $2 - $6 per ride, and they only take cash at the ride entrances. ***** Note to the business - If you want to fix this problem, create a "Rides included" ticket at the counter and bump the cost per ticket by $20 for that ticket option. Keep track of the 'paid riders' with a wrist band or something they can show the ride operator. This also alleviates the operators from having to handle cash and change. ***** Off my soapbox now... The variety of animals includes numerous tropical and domestic birds, from unbelievably rich and brightly hued pheasants and peacocks to wise owls and talking parrots. There are tons of different types of monkeys who swing around and eat leaves off the trees near their habitats. Plenty of the exhibits include offspring from the animals who live there, and no one can say no to a tiger cub or a baby monkey with arms too long for its own good. No one!! Lions, tigers, and bears.... Yup. They've got them all. There is a dragon section with gila monsters and moniter lizards and even an albino alligator! There are several types of deer, bears, large African cats, etc. You can feed the giraffes and ducks from $.50 dispensers = coin operated, so have some quarters when you go! This venue is really great for kids because of the rides, and great for families for the pleasant outdoor atmosphere in AZ. It's rare to find shaded facilities to spend the day, so I recommend you get your kids and your in-laws and give it a go!
