| - In November, I had an eye exam at a very reputable Eye Center, this was to renew my prescription for contacts a i was about out of them They found I had cataracts. Before I could get the prescription, I needed the surgery. Although my exam was covered the cataract surgery wasn't. These people bent over backwards looking for a place that would do the surgery under my insurance, they even called Barnet, Dulaney & Perkins, scheduled my repeat exam. I waited 2 1)2 months for my appointment which was today (january 27). last night I received a call verifying that I would be there and I said I would. This morning just hours before my scheduled appointment I was called by Kristen at Barnet Dulaney & Perkins, asking who was my insurance, then informing me that my insurance would cover the surgery but not the eye exam. (I did have a copy of the extensive exam I had in November but they would not accept it) so Kristen gave me a phone number to another eyecenter (an affiliation), she told me they would probably get me in today, then to call them back & once again, make an appt. To see the doc about surgery. Kristin was wrong, my appt. just for the repeat exam is Feb 16 Meanwhile, a very reputable source contacted me & said wouldn't be covered at this new place, nor would my surgery at Barnet. I am now on 7 weeks with the same (last) pair of contacts in Even though they are cleaned daily, there comes a point that you can't clean them anymore. I'm at that point, they feel like shards of glass in my eye with every blink, there is a burn. Their overwhelming compassion for my problem, was as though to say, "it's not my problem". Not that is was said, but might as well had been. Yes, I have a pair of reading glasses, but also have a metal allergy, break out every time I wear them Regardless, my choice to wear contacts. The staff at Barnet needs to be educated on what insurance they do & dont take. Don't wait till the day of someone scheduled appointment to tell them after waiting two and a half months that they can't be seen That is so inconsiderate, you have no clue what I had to go through for this appt. Obviously my time isn't as important as yours. My reputable source, a person that I totally trust with this matter I tells me, Barnet will take my insurance only if it's a retina problem. I find the whole thing very annoying and with the incompetence I've seen just today along with their staff they need to be trained at what their job is & educated on insurance matters. This is something they deal with daily Don't be just guessing and telling someone the insurance will cover, when indeed, it doesn't. One nice thing, & in my favor, most of the reviews I read that weren't happy with this place had been there, I didn't have to come in to find out I wouldn't want to come back. I am giving a "1" star rating, that's because "Yelp" made me. One star wasn't earned
