| - My husband and I purchased a full kitchen of appliances (refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, washer & dryer) from Spencer's Appliances in Mesa, AZ in 2005 and had a good experience with them then. They were helpful, prices were good, delivery was smooth, etc. We have referred a number of friends who have made purchases at Spencer's. Needing a new fridge now as ours is dying, we returned to Spencer's and selected a fridge. The experience this time has been horrendous. The initial purchase at the Tatum & Thunderbird store seemed to go smoothly, but come delivery day everything went downhill. I took the day off work in order to take delivery of the fridge, and they called in the morning as expected to let me know the delivery was scheduled between 10am and noon. At 10:21am, Gary from the store called and said the unit was "backordered", but he would do some checking and call me in a few minutes to let me know what was going on. I didn't mention it to Gary at that time, but the unit was purchased was a discontinued unit. It didn't make any sense that it would be "backordered". At 12:05pm, after hearing nothing from Gary, I called the store to find out what was going on. Gary, sounding very flustered, made a comment about how he had been working on it and he didn't know anything yet and he would call me back. At 1:15pm, Gary called to let me know he had "found one of the units" we had purchased and he could have it delivered tomorrow. Tomorrow? What about today, the scheduled delivery day? He could have it delivered tomorrow. These are "very popular units", so I needed to tell him if he should hold it for me. Really?? It's a discontinued model, how popular could they be. And I've already purchased it!!!!!! Why would I need to let him know if he should hold it for me?!? Gary's demeanor during my conversations with him was as if he was doing me some huge favor by finding this refrigerator for me. A refrigerator I had already paid Spencer's for!! I called the store back a short time later to speak to the store manager but was told the manager (who it turns out was our original salesperson) was out today and for the next 3 days. In my frustration, at 2:25pm I called the Mesa store to find a manager or Corporate person to speak with. I was told by the nice and seemingly sympathetic gentleman who answered my call that "Rick", an owner, was in a meeting but he would have "Rick" call me when he was out of the meeting. It's now 4:45pm and, of course, there has been no call from "Rick". Apparently Spencer's doesn't give a rat's ass about customers service, and if there is an issue they aren't going to do a thing about it.
